For the first time this season, Bethlehem Central will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Bethlehem Central lost 17-3 to Saratoga Springs on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Blue Streaks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Bethlehem Central got a good showing from Evan O'Connell, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Bethlehem Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Proper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Guilderland kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Niskayuna. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Christian Walsh put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Walsh was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Guilderland got a good showing from Landon Warchol, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Ryan Conklin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Sean Roddy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
