Basketball Recap: Brighter Horizons Academy Comes Up Short

Brighter Horizons Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Brentwood Christian Bears 82-53. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 958th, while the Bears are ranked 182nd).

Brentwood Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryant Herring led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Herring is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marcus Zelee, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Brighter Horizons Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for Brentwood Christian, they pushed their record up to 24-8 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Brighter Horizons Academy nor Brentwood Christian have any future games scheduled.
