Baseball Recap: Godby Takes a Loss

If Godby was feeling good fresh off their 15-3 takedown of Rickards last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars lost 16-5 to the Madison County Cowboys on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 last Friday.

Jaylen Roque made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Godby's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Madison County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-10.

Coming up, Godby will welcome Rickards at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Madison County, they will venture away from home to challenge Christ's Church Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
