Basketball Recap: Erionna Henry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dunedin over Indian Rocks Christian

It was a Battle of the Birds when Dunedin challenged Indian Rocks Christian on Thursday. The Dunedin Falcons fell 42-31 to the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erionna Henry, who posted nine points in addition to four steals and three blocks. Henry is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Samayah Barnes, who had four points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Malia Stevens was her usual excellent self, putting up 29 points for Indian Rocks Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Beswetherick, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Dunedin's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Dunedin will take on Anclote in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-40 victory against Osceola on the 13th.
