Montpelier came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Wayne Trace Raiders by a score of 9-4. This was a revenge game for the Locomotives: when they faced off against the Raiders back in April, they had to take a 11-1 defeat.

Madelyn Hopper was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Montpelier let Kelsie Bumb and Zoe Uribes run wild. Bumb went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Uribes went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Lyla Mahan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Montpelier's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Wayne Trace, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Coming up, Montpelier will challenge Patrick Henry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Locomotives' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. Wayne Trace does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
