The Hanford Falcons will take on the Ferris Saxons on Tuesday. Hanford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Hanford heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Chiawana by a score of 5-3. The Falcons' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Jadyn Owens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Neve Jimenez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Ferris never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gonzaga Prep on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bullpups with a sharp 24-1 win. Considering the Saxons have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Hao made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ferris got a massive performance out of Cadence Hyndman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Donyelle Strauss was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Ferris was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gonzaga Prep only posted a batting average of .263.
Ferris has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Hanford, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.
Ferris' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Hanford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ferris, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 strikeouts. Will Hanford keep running through batters, or will the Saxons buck the trend?
