Soccer Game Preview: Richmond vs. Uwharrie Charter Academy

The Richmond Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Richmond turned things around against Porter Ridge on Thursday. Neither they nor the Pirates could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Raiders' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Uwharrie Charter Academy kept a clean sheet against Trinity on Wednesday. They skirted past the Bulldogs 1-0. The Eagles' winning goal came courtesy of Marlee Hill.

The win made it two in a row for Uwharrie Charter Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two matches. With that draw, Richmond's record moves to 2-6-1.

Richmond beat Uwharrie Charter Academy by a goal when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richmond since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
