Softball Recap: Grace Christian Wins Going Away Against John Paul II Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against High Point Christian Academy, Grace Christian was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the John Paul II Catholic Saints 13-3. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Grace Christian let Aubrey Gunter and Olivia Hochevar run wild. Gunter went 2-for-5 with six RBI and two doubles, while Hochevar scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Hochevar also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Maryn Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Grace Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for John Paul II Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season.

Grace Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Thales Academy Rolesville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for John Paul II Catholic, they will take on Gates County in a tournament on Tuesday.
