Preview: Southmont Mounties vs. Danville Warriors

Southmont is 1-8 against Danville since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Southmont made off with a 35-34 win over Cloverdale. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southmont.

Among those leading the charge was Carter Hubble, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. Hayden Hess was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Danville waltzed into Saturday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Hamilton 56-53. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 34th in Indiana, while Hamilton is ranked 296th in Tennessee), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Scrafton, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lawrence, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.

Southmont's victory lifted them to 2-0 while Cloverdale's loss dropped them down to 0-3.

Southmont was taken down by Danville 71-36 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Southmont have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
