Softball Recap: Greenup County Musketeers vs. East Carter Raiders

It was a good run, but Greenup County unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 12-9 to the East Carter Raiders. Greenup County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as East Carter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Greenup County got a massive performance out of Skyler Lawrence, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Adrian Wells was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

On East Carter's side, Laken Knipp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Knipp has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Knipp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Adriana Cordle was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Shelby Felty, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Greenup County's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for East Carter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Greenup County will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greenup County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season. As for East Carter, they will head out on the road to square off against Blazer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
