Baseball Game Preview: Rushville Lions vs. Franklin County Wildcats

Rushville is 2-8 against Franklin County since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Rushville has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Rushville took on Lawrenceburg on Wednesday. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 13-12. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Casey Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trent Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Franklin County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rushville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4.

Garrett Kuntz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI. Sam Foster was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Rushville skirted past Franklin County 5-4 in their previous meeting on Monday. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
