Baseball Recap: Macarthur Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

MacArthur's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Molina Jaguars. The win was some much needed relief for the Cardinals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ian Martinez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Parker Lindsey and Gavin Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Lindsey went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Harris scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two RBI gave Lindsey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Torres, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

MacArthur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

MacArthur's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Molina, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, MacArthur will be playing at home against Berkner at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Molina, they will head out on the road to challenge Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.14 runs per game on average), something Molina will no doubt try to take advantage of.
