Basketball Recap: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Newark Wildcats
It was a good run, but the Zanesville Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. The game between them and Newark wasn't particularly close, with Zanesville falling 62-45. While losing is never fun, Zanesville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while the Wildcats are ranked 29th).
Defeat or not, Zanesville got some senior leadership from Rashaud Hampton and Drake Tabler. Hampton scored 19 points, while Tabler. scored 11 points.
Zanesville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Newark, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.
Zanesville and the Lancers will face off at 7:25 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lakewood has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 9. As for Newark, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cruisers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
