Cheyenne came into Monday's game looking for another win against Amplus Academy, but Salematou Kaba wouldn't allow it. The Amplus Academy Archers escaped with a win on Monday against the Cheyenne Desert Shields by the margin of a single free throw, 35-34 thanks to Kaba, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points and eight rebounds. What's more, she also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cheyenne lost, don't look at Elissa Sambo. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 steals. That was a full 52.9% of Cheyenne's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Zanna Coleman was another key player, putting up three points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.

Amplus Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Cheyenne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.
