Basketball Recap: St. George's Falls Despite Big Games from Carson Crump and Martechio 'MJ' Hayes

After flying high against Trezevant on Wednesday, St. George came back down to earth. The Gryphons fell 52-47 to the Houston Mustangs on Saturday. That makes it the first time this season the Gryphons have let down their home crowd.

St. George's loss came despite strong showings from Martechio 'MJ' Hayes and Carson Crump. Hayes dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Crump posted 19 points. Hayes has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 45% every time he's hit the court this season.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Houston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Coming up, St. George's will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against White Station at 6:00 p.m. As for Houston, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Germantown at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th.
