Basketball Recap: Nyshawn Turner Key Part of Team Effort in Raptors Win

Rich Township had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the Andrew Thunderbolts with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 59-41. Given the Raptors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th in Illinois, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 291st in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rich Township's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyshawn Turner, who posted 12 points. What's more, Turner also posted a 75% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Al Brooks was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Rich Township has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Andrew is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-19.

Coming up, Rich Township will venture away from home to take on Lincoln-Way East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rich Township knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lincoln-Way East likes a good challenge. Andrew does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
