Litchfield hadn't done well against Gillespie recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Purple Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Miners. This was a revenge game for the Purple Panthers: when they faced off against the Miners back in April, they had to take a 10-2 loss.

Litchfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Titan Hires, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Litchfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gillespie, they moved to 13-8 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Litchfield has already played their next contest, a 10-1 win against Pana on the 12th. As for Gillespie, they are taking a road trip to take on Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
