Basketball Recap: Ma'khia Banks and Jayla Brooks Secure Win for Thomasville

Thomasville's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They managed a 42-36 win over the Brookwood Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-38 on January 11th.

Thomasville was led to victory by Jayla Brooks and Ma'Khia Banks. Brooks posted 27 points and five steals, while Banks almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Banks a new career-high.

Brookwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ainsley Jacobson, who had eight points and ten boards. Jacobson has become a key player for Brookwood: the team is 11-4 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Carriyona Williams was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Thomasville now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Brookwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Thomasville will head out to square off against Worth County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Worth County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Thomasville surely won't give up without a fight. Brookwood has already played their next game, a 47-27 win against Chiles on the 28th.
