Basketball Recap: Archbishop Bergan Takes a Loss

Archbishop Bergan was the 58-51 winner over Aquinas when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Archbishop Bergan Knights took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aquinas Monarchs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Faith Samek, who went 11 of 20 on her way to 25 points. With that strong performance, Samek is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Wollmer, who posted four points along with 15 boards and four blocks.

Archbishop Bergan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Aquinas, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Archbishop Bergan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-30 loss against Lourdes Central Catholic on the 20th. Aquinas has also already played their next match, a 54-42 defeat against Bishop Neumann on the 17th.
