Baseball Game Preview: Trimble County Raiders vs. Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers

The Trimble County Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Trimble County has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 24.

Trimble County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Carroll County on Thursday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-0.

Trimble County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Hunt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Hunt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Shawe Memorial fell victim to Oldenburg Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to the Twisters. The defeat leaves the Hilltoppers still looking for their first win of the season.

Trimble County's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Shawe Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Trimble County couldn't quite finish off Shawe Memorial in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
