Football Recap: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Takes Down Ranked Boulder City

On Friday, Pinecrest Academy Cadence faced Boulder City in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars strolled past the Boulder City Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 26-12. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 37-7 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Leyton Gasperosky continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. Amelia Woolard helped Gasperosky out on the ground, rushing for 65 yards and one touchdown.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Vaite?A Yadao, Patricia Monacelli, and Sarah Nason picked up one apiece. What's more, Yadao also racked up two defended passes, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Boulder City lost, don't look at Noelle Payne. Despite the final result, she rushed for 136 yards on only 12 carries.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Boulder City, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence will take on Cheyenne at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Academy Cadence is facing Cheyenne at the right time seeing as Cheyenne is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Boulder City, they are taking a road trip to face off against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Boulder City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 31.8 points per game this season.
