Recap: Memorial Red Devils vs. Girard Indians

Even though the Memorial Red Devils have not done well against the Girard Indians recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Memorial came out on top against Girard by a score of 50-40. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Girard is ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aziyah Flores, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Teyon Harris, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Girard, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Memorial will take on Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Champion is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Girard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
