Basketball Recap: Brody Sheffield Key Part of Team Effort in Outlaws Win

Yuma won the last time they faced Liberty Common and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Yuma Outlaws strolled past the Liberty Common Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 70-52. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Outlaws as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yuma to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Sheffield, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine assists. That's the most assists Sheffield has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Thomson, who put up 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Liberty Common's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierce Richardson, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Clay, who went 5-for-11 en route to 17 points.

Yuma's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Liberty Common, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Yuma and Liberty Common's could be walking into a shootout. Yuma allows their opponents to put quite a few scores each game. They have given up an average of 45.6 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
