Baseball Recap: Legion Collegiate Academy Drops Season-High Score on Parkwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legion Collegiate Academy). They blew past the Parkwood Wolf Pack 16-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Griffin McKain looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Legion Collegiate Academy let Justin Iannetto and Collin Tuttle run wild. Iannetto scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4, while Tuttle scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Tuttle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gordon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Legion Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Legion Collegiate Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. Parkwood's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legion Collegiate Academy will venture away from home to take on Asheville Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
