Recap: Hickory Flat Rebels vs. Wheeler Eagles
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Hickory Flat Rebels walked away with it. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 66-53 on Monday. This was payback for Hickory Flat, who suffered a 52-35 loss the last time these two teams met.
Wheeler's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebekah Mason, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Mason is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games she's played. Marley Garrett was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Hickory Flat's win bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Wheeler, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.
Hickory Flat will face off against Okolona at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hickory Flat is coming into the match with five straight wins on the road, so Okolona is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Wheeler does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
