Basketball Game Preview: Cloverdale Clovers vs. Owen Valley Patriots

Cloverdale and Owen Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Cloverdale Clovers will head out to square off against the Owen Valley Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cloverdale is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Cloverdale didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Robinson, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory. Given the Clovers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 244th in Indiana, while the Maroons are ranked 596th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jahaven Duncan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 24 on his way to 34 points and four steals. His morning made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ishmael Kiteka, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Owen Valley had to suffer through a 78-29 loss at the hands of Covenant Christian. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cloverdale will have to contain Dillon Bell as he made an impact in Owen Valley's last game. He made all 5 shots he took to post 13 points. Those 13 points gave Bell a new career-high.

The win got Cloverdale back to even at 5-5. As for Owen Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Cloverdale hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.9 points per game. It's a different story for Owen Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 37.7 points. The only thing between Cloverdale and another offensive beatdown is Owen Valley. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Cloverdale came up short against Owen Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 49-38. Can Cloverdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
