Volleyball Recap: Stamford Takes Down Ranked Staples

Stamford faced Staples in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Black Knights won by a set and slipped past the Wreckers 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Black Knights, who have now won three matches in a row.

Alec Antipuesto paced Stamford's offense, picking up 22 kills. Antipuesto got some help from Ethan Taylor and his 52 assists. Taylor was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Stamford pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Staples, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Stamford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Bridgeport Central on the 3rd. As for Staples, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ridgefield at 5:45 p.m. on the 14th.
