Basketball Recap: Cheraw Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cheraw had won two straight games and Tim Provost did his part to make it three on Friday. The Cheraw Wolverines were the clear victor by a 51-25 margin over the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates for which the team can thank Provost, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. What's more, he posted four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Braden Stoker, who scored nine points. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

Despite the defeat, Genoa-Hugo/Karval saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ryker Lockhart had eight points and five steals.

Cheraw's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Cheraw didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-23 win against Walsh on the 1st. Genoa-Hugo/Karval does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
