Volleyball Recap: Lompoc Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Alexa Espinoza and Emery Mendez

Lompoc came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Morro Bay Pirates. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-8, 25-19.

Emery Mendez and Alexa Espinoza certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Mendez had 16 digs, six kills, and three aces, while Espinoza had 15 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Caitlin McCarley, who had five digs and three aces.

Lompoc's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Morro Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Lompoc has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Nipomo on the 28th. As for Morro Bay, they will look to defend their home court on the 5th against Elsinore.
