Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Sunnyside proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Gilbert Tigers 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Devils, who have now won four matches in a row.

ALFREDO ENCINAS was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. JORDAN MAYBOCA also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Sunnyside's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gilbert, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will host Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gilbert, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Gilbert Tigers take on Mesquite Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mesquite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
