Recap: Madison Academy Knights vs. Dayspring Academy Shires

Even though the Dayspring Academy Shires scored an imposing 71 points on Thursday, the Madison Academy Knights still came out on top. Madison Academy snuck past Dayspring Academy with a 75-71 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Madison Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

When it comes to explaining why Dayspring Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is John-Michael Martin. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-8 from downtown and dropped a triple-double on 45 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Jackson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Madison Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dayspring Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Dayspring Academy, they will head out on the road to take on United Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. United Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
