Softball Recap: Rio Mesa Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Rio Mesa posted their closest victory since February 25th on Saturday. They never let the Thousand Oaks Lancers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2017.

Analia Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Rio Mesa's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Thousand Oaks, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Mesa will head out to challenge Buena at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.27 runs per game on average), something Rio Mesa will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Thousand Oaks, they are taking a road trip to take on Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thousand Oaks' pitchers better be ready for this one: Westlake has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
