Basketball Recap: Trinity Takes a Loss

Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 45-26 fall against the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Eagles are ranked 139th).

Madison Hill was Trinity's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Ava Nance took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Leading Uwharrie Charter Academy to victory were Nevaeh Staples and Kayla Brown. Staples went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Brown posted seven points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Naimah Al-Arif, who scored four points and five assists.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Trinity didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-26 loss against Providence Grove on the 4th. Uwharrie Charter Academy has also already played their next game, a 48-41 win against Randleman on the 4th.
