Baseball Recap: Eastside Catholic Beats Lakeside for Their Third Straight Victory

Eastside Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Lakeside Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Monday.

Eastside Catholic let Kobe Reese and Kai Jambor run wild. Reese went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Jambor went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Reese a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Long, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Eastside Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

Eastside Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Lakeside, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eastside Catholic will face off against rival O'Dea at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lakeside is set to square off against their familiar foe Ballard at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.4, the Beavers 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
