Baseball Recap: Cape Henry Collegiate Triumphs

After losing to Walsingham Academy the last time they met, Cape Henry Collegiate decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dolphins walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Trojans on Wednesday.

Jackson Jones looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Cape Henry Collegiate is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cape Henry Collegiate let Reid Downs and Bear Friske run wild. Downs scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Friske scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Friske a new career-high.

Cape Henry Collegiate's record is now 5-6. As for Walsingham Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Henry Collegiate will host Norfolk Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dolphins are facing the Mighty Oaks at the right time seeing as the Mighty Oaks are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Walsingham Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Hampton Roads Academy at 4:00 p.m. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Navigators have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
