Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Cheyenne Mountain's Winning Streak

Cheyenne Mountain lost against Palmer Ridge back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks fell 74-63 to the Palmer Ridge Bears. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red-Tailed Hawks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Bears are ranked 140th).

Palmer Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Boyer, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 22 points along with five assists and five boards. The game was Boyer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Lukas Pears was another key player, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

The loss snapped Cheyenne Mountain's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record. As for Palmer Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Cheyenne Mountain will challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palmer Ridge, they will take on Pueblo South at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pueblo South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
