Recap: Poudre Community Academy Warriors vs. Wellington Eagles
The Poudre Community Academy Warriors struggled with assists on Friday (the Wellington Eagles had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Poudre Community Academy was outmatched by Wellington at home and fell 58-18. Poudre Community Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Poudre Community Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joslyn Schaeffer, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks, and Ash Beck who scored a point along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Wellington found their leader in underclassman Ava Essay, who scored 26 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Essay has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samilem Jaquez, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Poudre Community Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.5 points per game. As for Wellington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
Poudre Community Academy will head out on the road to face off against Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
