Baseball Recap: Woodside Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Woodside faced off against Terra Nova on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joseph Hohl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jeremiah Arias Torres and Cruz Torres did some serious damage despite the final result: Arias Torres scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Torres scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Fernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Woodside's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Terra Nova, they pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Coming up, Woodside will take on Sacred Heart Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Terra Nova, they will face off against More at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
