Football Game Preview: Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies vs. Sioux Valley Cossacks

Elk Point-Jefferson is 1-9 against Sioux Valley since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Huskies will host the Cossacks at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sioux Valley will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Elk Point-Jefferson extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. The Huskies took their contest with ease, bagging a 46-6 win over Flandreau. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Fliers are ranked 49th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sioux Valley blew past Beresford, posting a 46-6 victory. The Cossacks' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Elk Point-Jefferson better keep an eye on Logan Mohn. He was instrumental in Sioux Valley's win, rushing for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Mohn's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Sioux Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 440 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Sioux Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mohn and Wyatt Nelson.

Elk Point-Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Sioux Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Things could have been worse for Elk Point-Jefferson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Sioux Valley in their previous meeting back in November of 2024.
