Basketball Recap: Monday's Win Is Lake Buena Vista's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Lake Buena Vista won the last time they faced Apopka Christian Academy, and Jaleah Byrd did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lake Buena Vista Vipers walked away with a 43-31 win over the Apopka Christian Academy Lions on Monday thanks in part to Byrd, who went 11 for 19 en route to 22 points along with six steals and four blocks. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Apopka Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooklynn Nobles, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards, and Trinity Fletcher, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Lake Buena Vista is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.7 points per game. As for Apopka Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
