Baseball Recap: Poston Butte Broncos vs. Mesquite Wildcats

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Poston Butte walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Mesquite Wildcats on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for Poston Butte as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Noah Allison was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.

On Mesquite's side, Cruz Lantz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Gunnar Gift made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Lebron, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Mesquite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poston Butte only posted a batting average of .200.

Poston Butte has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Mesquite, they dropped their record down to 16-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
