Basketball Game Preview: Northfield Nighthawks vs. Denver East Angels

Northfield hasn't had much luck against Denver East recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Northfield Nighthawks will take on the Denver East Angels at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Northfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.

Northfield and Denver South faced off in a cross-town battle on Wednesday. Northfield walked away with a 73-62 victory over Denver South. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but the Nighthawks were the better team in the second half.

Northfield found their leader in sophomore LaPorsha Allen, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Northfield is undefeated when Allen posts ten or more boards, but 7-8 otherwise. Kate Snodgrass was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Denver East got the win against Rangeview on Wednesday by a conclusive 54-32. The Angels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Denver East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points over those games. As for Northfield, their record now sits at 10-8.

Northfield ended up a good deal behind Denver East when the teams last played two weeks ago, losing 80-63. Can Northfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
