Baseball Game Preview: Wilmot Panthers vs. Burlington Demons

For the second straight game, Wilmot will face off against Burlington. The Panthers will challenge the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Wilmot needed a bit of extra time to put away Burlington. They won by a run and slipped past the Demons 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Nate Dzierzanowski and Preston Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Dzierzanowski went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Watson, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Wilmot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Burlington dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Wilmot, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
