Football Game Preview: Burroughs Bears vs. Hoover Tornados + Official Tickets

Burroughs has gone a perfect 5-0 against Hoover recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will head out on the road to take on the Tornados at 5:30 p.m. Burroughs will be strutting in after a win while Hoover will be coming in after a loss.

Burroughs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 4, 2024 (when they won 47-21). They were the clear victors by a 34-12 margin over Glendale. With the Bears ahead 28-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Brandon Chapparo went supernova, rushing for 125 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 132 yards and one touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Burroughs' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sho Fujita, who gained 148 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Burroughs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 270 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Burroughs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jamar Saint-Fleur, Tony Sanchez, and Brendan Smith picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Saint-Fleur is now averaging an impressive 6.5 total tackles per game.

Meanwhile, Hoover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Pasadena, falling 66-8.

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Burroughs, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Everything went Burroughs' way against Hoover when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Burroughs made off with a 47-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tornados' Javon Lymon, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also caught one TD.
