With a playoff win on the line, Orestimba rose to the challenge on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Hughson Huskies. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Huskies back in April, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Hailey Starr spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Salece Machado was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Orestimba has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hughson, they moved to 20-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Orestimba will square off against Casa Roble at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hughson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
