Recap: Coronado Cougars vs. Widefield Gladiators

After losing to the Widefield Gladiators the last time they met, the Coronado Cougars decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Coronado enjoyed a cozy 55-38 win over Widefield on Thursday.

Coronado had a senior duo take command as Realiti Smith scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Dylan Dooyema scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dooyema has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Seth Enoch, who scored eight points along with four steals.

Despite the defeat, Widefield had strong showings from Cordae Wade, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Amari Taylor, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Andrews, who scored four points along with five rebounds.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Widefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will face off against Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Falcon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Widefield, they will head out on the road to challenge Pueblo Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pueblo Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Widefield likes a good challenge.
