Saegertown extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 8-1 in the process. They never let the Lakeview Sailors get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 18-8 win the Sailors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

William Shaffer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Blake Leslie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Lakeview, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Lakeview's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Montgomery, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Saegertown and Lakeview should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Panthers will challenge Cochranton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (107 vs. 451). The timing is sure in Saegertown's favor as the team sits on 14 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Cardinals have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Lakeview (ranked 53rd) will meet Moniteau (ranked 419th) at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
