Softball Recap: Big Sandy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Cumby

There's no place like home for Big Sandy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Cumby Trojans 13-3 on Friday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Journie Plunkett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February of 2024. Jorga Stewart was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Big Sandy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Big Sandy pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Cumby, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Big Sandy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hawkins at 1:00 p.m. As for Cumby, they will venture away from home to challenge Alba-Golden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
