Softball Recap: Spruce Creek Falls Short of Creekside in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Spruce Creek couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Creekside Knights by a score of 3-1 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Aubrey Yeary was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexis Minaberry was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Spruce Creek's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6. As for Creekside, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Spruce Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Creekside, they will challenge Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
