Softball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Triumphs

Archbishop McCarthy's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Westminster Academy Lions. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Elizabeth Bruzgis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lydia Springer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Gia Dimler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop McCarthy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Archbishop McCarthy back to even at 10-10. As for Westminster Academy, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

As of now, neither Archbishop McCarthy nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
